Landing a Remarkable Interview

Recorded live—now available!

There are more benefits to being a guest on someone else's podcast than I can count. But here are just a few:

  • Book sales, new clients, and speaking engagements—I've experienced real financial benefits from being interviewed on podcasts (and so have our clients at YellowHouse.Media)

  • New perspective and ideas—a great interview has a way of sparking your creative mojo

  • New connections—I've met so many great people simply by agreeing to (or asking for) an interview

Maybe those reasons convince you to put some energy into landing remarkable interviews, but you don't know where to start. Or maybe you've been trying to land remarkable interviews and coming up short.

In this 90-minute workshop, Tara will walk you through:

  • Researching which shows are right for you to pitch

  • Finding the angles that will make podcast hosts say "yes!"

  • Crafting a pitch that actually gets opened

  • Preparing for an interview

  • Giving your best interview, from great answers to expert microphone technique

We'll also discuss podcasting trends specifically as they relate to podcast pitching and what not to do when you're pitching yourself.

Registration Fee: $50

There is also an option to register for $25 if the regular fee is a stretch, or you can register at $75 to cover the cost of someone else’s ticket!

Designing an Audio Course: 1-day Online Workshop

Next session: TBD

In this full-day workshop, you’ll complete a plan to create a compelling audio course. I’ll walk you through how to:

  • Select the overall learning outcome students want to achieve

  • Identify a “project” for your students to work on during the course

  • Choose learning objectives that keep students engaged for the duration of the course

  • Structure the course to overcome obstacles to learning

  • Design onboarding and offboarding to put your students at ease

  • And select supplementary materials to turn audio learning into real-world action

Crafting an Audio Essay: 6-Week Online Workshop

Next session: TBD

Go step-by-step as you create an 8-12 minute audio essay for your podcast. Your audio essay might use story, conversation, or reporting to illuminate a topic that’s important to you and your audience. Tara will guide you through identifying a creative vision for your podcast, identifying the topic for your audio essay, reporting or researching your topic, writing your script, and editing your piece. You’ll also have the opportunity to share your essay and get feedback in the last session.

Sessions are 2 hours long and held on Zoom. All sessions are recorded.
